Friends of the McDonald County Library
Mission Statement:
Our
mission is to enhance and to promote the resources, facilities, and services
of the library and to increase public awareness of the importance of the
library in the community.
The members of The Friends of the McDonald County Library have
a conviction that good library service is important to everyone.
Monthly Reading
Group
On the first Tuesday evening (unless otherwise posted) of each month
at 6:30 p.m., the Reading Group gathers to discuss that month’s book and
enjoy the bounty of refreshments and great conversation. The Mid-Continent
Public Library graciously sends numerous copies of each requested title,
so there is never a need to purchase a book to participate.
To become
involved, simply check out a copy of the current title from the Pineville
Library (ask for this month's book at the circulation desk), then
join in the fun at the meeting!
Fund Raising & Book Sales
Funds are raised for the library through membership
dues and other activities. Book Sales are held twice a year at the Pineville Library and are
comprised mainly of donations from library patrons.
Recent expenditures :
* supplied outdoor electricity and installed lampposts around the Library.
* replaced chairs at computer stations.
* purchased a display easel and brochure rack.
* hosted refreshments for the 2nd Annual Senior Fair held in May.
* are in the process of supplying two benches in front of the library for patron use.
Membership
- Individual Annual
Member - $10 annual dues
- Family Annual Member
- defined as a family unit of parents/guardians and children under 18
years of age - $20 annual dues
- Individual Life
Member - Upon the payment of $100, in advance, which payment shall relieve
the Individual Life Member from any obligation to pay membership fees thereafter.
All Friends will receive a newsletter keeping
them abreast of library events.
All Friends are invited to a special “Sneak
Preview” of all Friends’ book sales on the Saturday before the sale begins.
The Friends of the Library meet at least twice during the year.
